How many house design plans do you need to order
House design plans are drawn up to make your dream home a reality. You may have looked into hiring an architect to design your house, but that is an expensive option. A more affordable option is to buy pre-designed house design plans. When purchasing these plans, you need to have a vague idea of how many plans you need. But between the builder, mortgage lender, subcontractors and lenders, it’s hard to know exactly how many plans to purchase. Most places sell the house design plans in sets of 5 to cover all the major players working on your house. But you may need more. Each of the subcontractors working on the home may need plans. Before you jump into buying 2 or 3 sets of plans, order one set first. By ordering just one set of house design plans, you can look over the plans. Taking this time will allow you to note any alterations you want made. You can have the plans looked over by a local builder to be sure all local building codes are met. After looking over the plans, you can then pay for customization before ordering more plans. You will also have the time to figure how many subcontractors will need copies of the plans. Will it cost you more to buy the house design plans twice? Not necessarily. If you alter the plans, you may have to start all over and buy the set of 5 again. But if you make no changes, most places will credit the purchase of the first plans to the set you eventually buy.
