3D house plans

3D house plans give you a more realistic idea of what you are getting

3D house plans are a relatively new way for you to see what your house will look like after being built. If 2D blueprints don’t look much like a house to you, you are not alone. 3D house plans can help you see what your house will look like after you are all moved in, from the top and the side.

When you are looking at 3D house plans, check to see how many views of the floor plans are available. Most software or services will at least give you a look down and a cross section of the house. The look down is as if the roof has been taken off of the house. You can have furniture placed in the virtual house so you know what size and shape furniture would fit best in the home. While this can be done with 2D blueprints, 3D house plans can show you even more.

3D house plans do not look straight down on the house. They look down at the house at a slight angle. On 2D blueprints, you’ll see a mark for where the door goes and where the windows are, but with 3D house plans you can see the virtual door or window. You can see how the room would look with a bay window versus several smaller windows. You can see the virtual staircases and railings. The more you see before buying materials and building, the happier you will be in the end.

Another great feature of some 3D house plans software or services is that you can see how the sun will effect each room at different times of day. You might want to adjust the plans depending on when you want the sun to hit different rooms. This is much more information than 2D blueprints can provide.
